Addict

The weight of the world on my shoulders,
Atlas himself couldn't compare.
Heavier and heavier, the pounds add on,
When I can't decide what to wear.

I sort through the remains of my wardrobe,
Trying to make sense of it all.
No desire of an outfit comes to me,
I give in! Destination: Mall.

The smell of my home invites me,
I am welcomed with open arms.
With the comfort of my friends on the rack,
I know I can do no harm.

  1. Sharla,

Nice job! I liked this poem- it has nice imagery and rhythm. I liked your reference to Atlas at the beginning and was thinking that you could add in more greek mythology references too... My memory is a little shaky but I think that Aphrodite is the goddess of beaty, which could probably play into the idea of the poem. Also, since the poem is called addict, you could add in some terms referencing to addiction. Just some food for thought!
